Staff member: Mata Windstorm - Interviewed by Cypher
After a sabbatical in Real Life, Mata Windstorm has returned to SL and The D/s Academy. On Thursdays he provides his experience and skills in crafting and then his insight and guidance in communications.
Mata has a vibrant and quick mind, a true Renaissance man. Attached are some highlights of a conversation Cypher (author of this newsletter) shared with Mata Windstorm and his enchanting lady Love.
Mata Windstorm: I used to spell it the modern way, Mahee, and now I spell it ?
the ancient way, MATA but it is the same name :-)
Mata Windstorm: Mahee is the modern name in Ireland
Mata Windstorm: Mata is the ancient gaelic
Mata Windstorm: mata got translated a few different ways... the way you would be familiar with is Matthew

Cypher: How long have you been crafting?
Mata Windstorm: in SL? Since my first day
Mata Windstorm: within 6 months I was building sims as well as clothing

Mata Windstorm: Love keeps pushing me to make more
Love: It's because he creates such nice clothes and furniture... He needs to share his talent
Mata Windstorm: someone once said that I have too many hobbies
Mata Windstorm: I said, I have only one hobby, I make things

Cypher: Your class is a four part series [...]
Mata Windstorm: pat 1 was 1 sitter, a pillow
Mata Windstorm: part 2 was 2 sitters, a chair
Mata Windstorm: my goal is for particles.. like chains.... next and then RLV the last one
Mata Windstorm: I think the next may be a bondage device
Cypher: Did you cover the creation of the sitter or putting in scripts?
Mata Windstorm: yep.. class one was which scripts and note cards needed to be in it as well as adjusting the sits
Mata Windstorm: second class, they had the notecards and scripts already in it to save time and we worked through how to do 2 people arrangements
Mata Windstorm: I teach with nPose because it is easy

Cypher: Have you been involved with The D/s Academy?
Mata Windstorm: have I been involved.. yes I have been a mentor and teacher there for a few years
Mata Windstorm: close to 4 years

Mata Windstorm: There is this thing in teaching called, "Sage on the Stage"
Mata Windstorm: Sage on the stage is a bad way to teach
Mata Windstorm: "Sage on the Stage" means... "I talk you shut up and listen"
Mata Windstorm: I only teach by making you do...
Mata Windstorm: even when I taught the communication class, I want active talking from the class
Mata Windstorm: my specialty.. professionally.. is as a mentor/coach
Mata Windstorm: I coach or mentor teachers to be better teachers
Mata Windstorm: I happily teach and mentor all who ask
Mata Windstorm: We all can learn, no matter how much we know

New photo booth for February: (Sub-)Space Station
Julala Demina has transformed the Photo Booth for February. This month she's given us a space that is reminiscent of Tron and Matrix. Take a friend to two to visit the Photobooth and get cyber-punked..
Each month, Juls tears down the display and constructs something new. The Photo Booth is a space to play in and to record the play with a few photographs.
