blabbering (By Estos)

Do you find yourself lurking in discussions?  Thinking, I've got a comment (c) or Question (q)?

Then you whole heartedly throw a (c) or a (q) into chat and wait your turn....

Only by the time they get round to you, you realise that your comment or question has already been asked or made, very eleoquently, by someone else.

Last night it was brought to my attention that another letter in the alphabet can leap to one's aid at this juncture - the R.

R means retract.  I retract my foolish request to think I've got something to add to the conversation.

Anyways,  at the discussion last night, I was happily C and q'ing away, then r'ing too (mainly because allison appeared to be telepathically linked to me.)

But eventually, I had something to say, and you guessed it - I spoke.

I don't normally speak - other things going on in the house normally preclude this.  But last night I spoke.  Or rather, I should say, babbled.

When I write something, I can gather my thoughts, and review.  Admittedly, my spelling and grammar  can be waaaay out, but generally, I can articulate my thoughts.

And this is not to say I can't talk in public, because I can.

But last night I babbled.  Sometimes, I babbled in a coherent way, such that someone else would point out I was off topic, other times I babbled in a incoherent way.  I was still speaking english.

Overnight I was reflecting on this, and realised that my terms of reference are out.  I clearly can lurk, listening to conversations, thinking I understand, appreciate, but when I pass comment, feedback how I relate to what I'm hearing, I'm getting it wrong.

This is a revelation!  This could well be why I'm still mystified by the whole D/s, M/s thing.  I fundamentally still don't understand it.

Yay for babbling!

Now I need to find someone who speaks fluent babble to help translate.

hey Estos....we're all babbling...so welcome to the babble club :o)

Please don't think you were off-topic - you weren't - you made some very valid points and questions...just that on some points, should we have chosen to linger on the terminology, could have sent us off on a whole nother avenue of babble.

Please do keep babbling with the rest of U/us.....its really only the babble that helps U/us A/all to make sense of this hugely contradictory, controversial and ultimately personal journey through the land of D/s.

p.s. my humble advice would be to throw out the D/s thesaurus altogether and define what it all means to YOU, yourself. Everyone's journey is different.....and it is only O/our personal experiences that W/we have the qualification to share.

I believe that each feel the same. Whenever sharing I always squeeze in "if that makes sense" or 'Sorry for rambling".

Usually, I am told that "it made sense to someone" and quite often people even say thank you when I am sure I've been on the babbletrain express!

If it makes sense to you while you share and process, it's all good. If it makes sense to ONE other person then the seed of community, connection, understanding, and acceptance is planted.

As long as we stay open we can cultivate whatever good things bloom out of our dialogue.

Thank you for sharing!

Yes, rambling is good for us. It is how we think. It is how we help others think.

Julala is on dangerous ground here (at least from the keepers of the Dom?sub flame) by suggesting to throw away the thesaurus. But it is a useful idea. Remember that there are no professional qualifications for Dominants or submissives. While there are some who I wonder if they are real (or worse I believe them not to be), this is not my call or that of anyone else.

So just keep blabbing and you may come out with the D/s equivalent of the complete works of Shakespeare!

I know.....I shall surely be punished for my insolence! It was suggested I become more controversial..... ;o)

That Thesaurus?

I think they are usually shelved next to Mitt Romney's Atlas which demonstrates that Syria is Iran's gateway to the sea!
